I’m in Love with a Cellphone

Thank you, thank, you Engadget (http://www.engadget.com) for setting up an all things Palm Pre page. (http://www.engadget.com/hub/palm-pre) This is easily the most anticipated cell phone (smartphone) since the Apple iphone (http://www.apple.com/iphone/gallery/). Personally, I was never that thrilled
about the iphone, I’ve never been into Apple products, basically because of their price point. I fully understand that you get what you pay for, but despite the superior design and engineering it’s still not worth it. On the other hand, my first foray into handheld computing back in the day was a Handspring Visor (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Handspring_(company)#Visor_Prism), then I went to a Sony Clie (http://the-gadgeteer.com/2002/03/06/sony_clie_peg_t615c_review/). From the PDA (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Personal_digital_assistant) I went to the PDA phones (http://pdaphonehome.com/forums/pdaphone-wiki/87864-pdaphone.html). Besides a couple of hiccups with Windows Mobile phones, I have pretty much had all Treos. At present I have a 755p (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=58vXJLxnFrc) which I believe mentioned in an earlier post (http://www.jembepoetics.com/?p=16#content). So, I obviously know and like Palm products, and it doesn’t take much from Palm to get me excited. As captivated as I am about the promise of the Pre, I still don’t foresee being able to justify the purchase of one when Sprint releases them (http://now.sprint.com/pre/?id9=vanity:palmpre). I barely use half the functionality my 755p (http://www.brighthand.com/default.asp?newsID=13016) has, what am I going to do with the mega-featured Pre. But I will still probably splurge and get one by the end of this year just because of my early adopter instincts. Until then, we all have to play the waiting game, and hang on every update from folks like Engadget (http://www.engadget.com).
